This project involved the supply of a high-capacity submersible pump package to a marine engineering contractor in the Philippines. The equipment was installed on an offshore operating platform and is mainly used for seawater intake, equipment cooling, and fire protection systems.
Due to the limited installation space on offshore platforms and the high cost of offshore maintenance, the customer required a pumping solution with outstanding seawater corrosion resistance, reliable operation of a high-power motor, and long service life under continuous-duty conditions.
Major wetted components including the pump casing, impellers, shaft, check valve, diffuser bowls, and sealing parts are all manufactured from SS316L stainless steel for maximum seawater corrosion resistance.
Operating continuously in high-salinity seawater requires exceptional material performance. All wetted parts, including the pump casing, impellers, diffuser bowls, and motor housing, are made of low-carbon SS316L stainless steel.
SS316L provides excellent resistance to chloride-induced pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and intergranular corrosion, ensuring long-term reliability in harsh marine environments.
To match the local offshore power supply system, the pump was specially designed for 3-phase 460V / 60Hz operation, which differs from the conventional 380V / 50Hz configuration commonly used in China.
The 150kW submersible motor features high-grade insulation materials and excellent thermal stability, enabling stable performance under voltage fluctuations typically encountered on offshore platforms.
The pump utilizes a large-capacity 300QJH hydraulic design, achieving a flow rate of 400 m³/h and a head of 80 meters with only a two-stage impeller arrangement.
The optimized hydraulic passages minimize internal friction losses, improve overall pumping efficiency, and help reduce energy consumption, which is especially important for offshore facilities where operating costs are significant.
Before shipment, the pump underwent comprehensive testing on a closed-loop performance test bench.
Measured operating data confirmed that the pump fully meets the design requirements at 400 m³/h, with stable head performance and hydraulic characteristics in accordance with international standards.
The motor chamber successfully passed pressure and air-tightness testing, ensuring reliable waterproof sealing performance under submerged and high-pressure conditions.
The SS316L submersible pump package has now been successfully delivered to the customer’s offshore platform in the Philippines and commissioned on site. Since start-up, operating current, vibration levels, and motor temperature rise have remained within the designed technical limits, demonstrating stable and reliable performance under actual offshore service conditions.
